A pale view of hills
I finished reading A Pale View of Hills yesterday while on a train delayed for four hours. I like the book; It’s evocative. It reminded me of places and times I haven’t thought of in a while. The story started me thinking about the actions people take and why they take them. I found it a strangely calm and gentle read. Strange as it’s partially set in post-war Nagasaki and due to the themes it deals with. It’s a book that needs more consideration and I plan on returning to it in the future.
"Niki shrugged. I watched her for a little while, then said, "But you see Niki, I knew all along. I knew all along she wouldn’t be happy over here. But I decided to bring her just the same." A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro
